Every year, the industry churns out a large number of movies in various genres, with some of them reaching the pinnacle of success. 2016 is going to be no different as Bollywood has an extensive list of big releases lines up for the year. A number of movies with good script and impressive star cast are being awaited by audience in India as well as overseas.

Here is a list of top 10 best upcoming Bollywood movies to watch in 2016:

10. Azhar

“Azhar” is a biopic film about the controversial cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin and the titular role in the movie is played by Emraan Hashmi. Prachi Desai plays the role of his wife, while the supporting star cast is played by Gautam Gulati, Huma Qureshi and Nargis Fakhri. The movie is produced by Balaji Films and directed by Tony D’Souza. It will release in May 2016.

9. Jagga Jasoos

The Ranbeer Kapoor-Katrina Kaif starrer “Jagga Jasoos” is another Hindi film which has a lot of expectations set for the audience. The thriller movie is based on the life story of a young detective. It will be released in June 2016 and has been written and directed by Anurag Basu.

8. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

The next name on the list of top 10 upcoming Bollywood movies to watch in 2016 is that of “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, a romantic musical by Karan Johar. It has an unsual star cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma. The movie is going to hit the cinemas in June 2016.

7. Udta Punjab

“Udta Punjab” is another awaited movie for the year 2016. It narrates the story of Punjab, a state marred by substance abuse. The star cast of the movie includes Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh. It has been directed by Abhishek Chaubey.

6. Mohenjo Daro

Next on the list of the much awaited period film called “Moehnjo Daro”, by the acclaimed director Ashutosh Gowarikar. This romance-adventure movie stars Hrithik Roshan, Pooja Hegde, Arunoday Singh, Kabir Bedi and Manish Chaudhary. It is slated for release in August 2016.

5. Fan

Featuring next on the list of top 10 upcoming Bollywood movies to watch in 2016 is “Fan”, an drama thriller which has Shahrukh Khan cast in a dual role. It is from the prestigious banner of Yash Raj Films and has been directed by Maneesh Sharma.

4. Airlift

Another anticipated Bollywood release is “Airlift”, an action flick which has Akshay Kumar starring as an evacuation specialist in Kuwait operations. Nimrit Kaur plays the female lead in the film, which has been directed by Raja Krishna Menon. The release date of the movie is 22nd January, 2016.

3. Raees

After the release of “Dilwale” in the end of 2015, the next year is also going to be a big one for SRK with the film called “Raees” lined up for an Eid release. The movie also marks the debut of the Pakistani actress, Mahira Khan and is the story of a chase between a conman and the police. It features the power packed performance of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and is directed by Rahul Dholakia.

2. Dangal

The Christmas of 2016 will see the return of Aamir Khan after his last success “PK”. This time he is going to come back with the sports biography called “Dangal”, which has him starred as a Haryanvi wrestler who encouraged his daughters to make name in wrestling despite the norms of the society. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film has a star cast including Aamir Khan, Rajkummar Rao, Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Sheikh and Vikram Singh.

Salman Khan is one of the most loved actors in the industry and his movies are always eagerly awaited by his fans. Salman has acquired an all new look for his upcoming release called “Sultan”, which is going to hit the screens on the auspicious occasion of Eid 2016. This movie is based on the life of a wrestler and has Rekha cast with Salman Khan. “Sultan” is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
