Plagiarism is very common for tinsel town movie makers. There are very few Bollywood movies that are not plagiarized. In Bollywood’s history, one can find several movies that are fully or partially copied from Hollywood or other regional movies. The movie ‘Kaante’ directed by Bollywood director Sanjay Gupta was a copy of Hollywood movie ‘reservoir Dogs’ directed by Quentin Tarantino. The poster of the remake was also exactly similar to the original movie. However, the Bollywood remake failed to entertain the audience despite the presence of Superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt’s in the movie.
9. Kyon Ki
The Bollywood movie ‘Kyon Ki’ was allegedly inspired by Hollywood movie ‘One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest’. The movie features Salman Khan and Kareen Kapoor in lead roles. The remake of the original movie hugely disappointed the audience and failed terribly at the box office where as the original movie beautifully brought the novel ‘One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ to life and was a highly appreciated.
8. Zinda
The Hindi movie ‘Zinda’ was copied from Korean movie ‘Oldboy’. Few dialogues in the remake were simply translated from the Korean version. The movie ‘Zinda’ failed at the box office, where as the original Korean movie was a huge hit.
7. Ek Ajnabee
The Hindi remake ‘Ek Ajnabee’ was a straight lift from the Hollywood movie ‘ Man on Fire’. The character of Denzel Washington was played by Amitabh Bachchan in the Hindi remake. The movie failed to recreate the magic of ‘ Man on Fire’ and bombed at box office.
6. ‘Ugly aur Pagli’
The Hindi movie ‘Ugly aur Pagli’ was one of the worst remakes in Bollywood. The movie was a copy of original Korean movie ‘My Sassy Girl’. The movie has also been remade in Hollywood with the similar name but it was way better than the Hindi version. The lead character in the Hindi version was played by Mallika Sherawat. The movie failed to create any ripples at the box office, where as the Hollywood remake was appreciated by the audience.
5. The Killer
The Hindi remake ‘TheKiller’ was copied from Hollywood movie ‘Collateral’ where the role of Tom Cruise and Jamie Fox was played by Irfan Khan and Emraan Hashmi. The movie also featured Nisha Kothari who failed to add any oomph factor in the movie. The movie was a big flop at the box office.
4. Dil Bole Hadippa
The movie ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ was blatantly copied from Amanda Bynes starrer Hollywood movie ‘She’s the Man’. In the Hindi remake, Amanda’s character was portrayed by Rani Mukherjee who turns into a man just to play her favorite sports and later falls for her team mate Shahid Kapoor. The movie failed to impress the audience and was declared a flop movie at the box office where as the original movie was highly appreciated by the audience and it made good business.
3. Deewane Huye Pagal
The remake ‘Deewane Huye Pagal’ was a copy of original romcom movie ‘There’s something about Mary’. The Hindi remake feature Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor and Rimi Sen in lead characters. The movie failed to survive at the box office despite a good performance by Akshay Kumar.
2. Kuch To Hai
The Hindi remake ‘Kuch to Hai’ was a copy of Hollywood cult movie ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’. The remake was hugely disappointing due to the pathetic acting performances by the characters in the movie. The movie features Tusshar Kapoor and Anita Hassanandani in lead roles. The movie failed to recreate the magic of the original movie at the box office.
1. God Tussi Great Ho
It is one of the most horrible Hindi remakes in the history of Indian cinema. The movie was a copy of Jim Carey starrer ‘Bruce Almighty’. The lead roles in the Indian version were played by Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Priyanka Chopra. Despite the star-studded cast, the remake bombed at the box office.
